Mathematics
The mathematics department offers a wide variety of courses designed to meet the varying academic needs and interests of students. The courses provide students in the career prep, tech prep and college prep programs with the mathematics background that prepares them for future career, apprenticeship, and educational plans. A student's placement in ninth grade mathematics is based on the student’s score on the Explore test which is administered to 8th grade students in the Belvidere Middle Schools coupled with the recommendation of the eighth grade mathematics teacher. This placement determines the sequence of courses the student will take in the mathematics department. Students are required to earn credit in a three-year sequence of courses in order to meet graduation requirements. It is highly recommended that students who enroll in Pre-Calculus and Calculus have their own graphing calculator.
